Great Things (2021)
As the world makes its gradual ascent out of the pandemic, there are countless activities we have been yearning to do or have forgotten the value of. As a composer and instrumentalist, the “great things” I am most looking forward to mostly have to do with the concert hall and my peers. I felt as though I had forgotten what it was like to make music on my instrument with my friends during a concert. I had forgotten what it felt like to perform for human-beings in the same room as me, not separated by a computer screen. The more positive steps we make as a community, the more of these “Great things” we get to see again in the concert hall. Great Things aims to highlight these brilliant developments as we begin to approach normality. By breaking the fourth wall, involving the audience, and giving the players every opportunity to fully express and animate the music, Great Things serves as a cacophonous overture to the post- pandemic musical era.
duration: ~5 minutes
